Alfred Jaeger-

I have read your post about your 2010 Malibu LT2.

If you are driving slowly or have started the car within the last ~8 hours the temperature may not update. I've found that while driving, in some cases, it will update but i cannot confirm why this is.

Perhaps Michelle Phillips can give us the rules that determine when the temp will update, also, especially for your model year/build and mine as I'm also curious ( 2009 LS)

Not sure if I would expect anything from her. After some research I found that GM service reps are not suppose to post on public forums under a work name etc. I have PMed her three times asking for her number and extension so I can confirm if she is real or not. No answer, and she has logged on a few times. I hope she is legit, but it doesn't look like she will be around much longer....

How do you get to show the corect temperature, my is stuck and wont change.
If it doesn't change at all, it sounds like it's a sensor problem. There's a sensor that sits up front near the grill and this detects the outside temperature. If you have electronic climate control, this sensor can affect the climate control performance as it gives the system an overall idea of how hot or cold it is outside and the climate control will adjust based on these inputs. So if the sensor is inoperative, your climate control may not function properly.

If the car is sitting in the sun, it may read a high temperature when you first start the car, but it should adjust to the real temperature once you get going. This should happen within a minute or 2.

Since this sensor is electronic, it is routed through the computer. So if it's inoperative, a trouble code should be set. If you have an active Onstar Subscription, they may be able to detect if a trouble code is set. Describe the problem to them first and ask if they see any trouble codes. If not, a diagnostic shop or of course a Chevy Dealer will be able to detect if a code is set.

I was suspicious of her(?) when she started asking for VIN #'s and other info from you Silver.

Outstanding Admin.!

As for the OP, I agree w/ Richard. After sitting in the sun my temp. reads above 100°, but after driving for a few min. it comes back down. I would take it in for some warranty work.

I will search for her name on GM's people finder when I go into the office on Monday.

Please do and let me know. I wouldn't be surprised if the name exists and was "stolen" to use on here. If she was legit, she would have responded to the PM's I sent that she read. I really wasn't asking much. It would be great to have a REAL service rep on here, but I am not sure if they can even do that honestly. But having a fake one is worse then none at all!
