i have a 2011 malibu with the 2.4l ecotec engine. it has 275,000 miles on it. i just recently replaced my camshaft position sensors because it was throwing check engine codes for a malufunction. when i pulled the old ones out, they were fully clogged. it ran beautifully for about 100 miles. now im getting a p0455 code thrown, and my motor wont stay running. today i had it idling in the driveway for about 10 minutes to warm it up before taking my son to school, i drove about 2 blocks from the hous and it died and wont turn back on. it wants to start, but dies. the check engine light wasnt on. im lost. i checked the usual suspects and have scoured the internet... i dont want to keep sinking money into this car, but... not gonna lie, i love it. lol.

When replacing the cam solenoids, GM recommends doing a complete oil change immediately after. If you didn't, then you may have doomed the new parts.

Also, if you used parts that are not AC Delco, you may have issues just from non-OE aftermarket parts.

Make sure your gas cap is tight.
P0455 means the evap system cannot create a partial vacuum in the fuel tank system. Split hose, hose disconnected, broken/cracked fitting, gasket around fuel pump failed, purge valve faulty or more....
In your case, [because you have poor idle] I would suspect a faulty purge valve. Youtube can help you.
i did change my oil afterwards. i have been thinking it might be a faulty gasket on my throttle body, the air intake side. i put some red (high heat) gasket maker on the inside of the groove, where i had a small tear, im hoping this works... next step is the purge valve and or the MAF sensor.

Hmmm... I've never seen a P0455 cause a car to run bad. It's mostly just for emissions that don't effect engine performance.
First of all we are all guessing here as it's very difficult to make an accurate diagnosis over the internet with the limited information available.

In no particular order my reason's for suspecting the purge valve are...

The P0455 code itself.
I have seen the purge valve responsible for seemingly unrelated symptoms.
It's an item with a high failure rate.
Changing it is quick, easy and cheap.
The engine is now failing to start but offering to run for a second or two [if I read the post correctly].

When I fist started studying EVAP systems, one of the first things taught was that the EVAP system does not flow enough air to adversely affect engine operation; however, many times a malfunction with the evap system while filling the gas tank will allow the charcoal canister to become contaminated with fuel and a hard start condition will result. This indicates that the EVAP system can indeed hamper engine operation.

Again, just guessing, and I have suggested a few other possible causes.

I have had a P0455 code for an aftermarket gas cap, for obvious reasons. It didn't effect the performance in any way. But I did say that I have never seen it effect engine performance and I also said that it's mostly for emissions that don't effect engine performance. I didn't say that I was absolutely correct. Just offering advice based upon my own personal experience. You seemed like you were pretty confident that you were correct. But just like you said in this reply we are all just guessing based upon what the OP is telling us. I still believe that it is highly unlikely that it is the EVAP system though. It's possibly likely that the P0455 code is coincidental.

My 08 Malibu was throwing the same code and it turned out to be the purge solonoid above the gas tank that went bad . Not a difficult repair. JG
