Yeah less messy for sure as you can drain the oil out before taking the filter out. I hate getting a perfect oil drain with no mess, and then the oil filter removal ends up making a small puddle anyway.

You can buy a special Socket that fits the cover. It is 32MM (about 1 3/4 in outside dia), it will fit on a 3/8 drive rachet. For about $10 or so at any autoparts.

The filter is A/C PF457 G or FRAM CH9018.

I had a paper type cartridge for my 3.5 Olds Intrigue and it was a mess to remove from the bottom. This topside of the 4cyl is great. Just insert the proper side up. You will see this when you remove it the first time. Clean the cover and o-ring edge before re-installing.

you should have a new o ring with the filter but yea clean it all up
