I am new to this forum and would like to know if there are any easy to install performance chips worth the money. I have looked at a few online such as Jet and SLR but would like some input from people with similar cars who have installed them on their own vehicles.

I don't think you'll find too many who'll get sucked into that sort of things. These chips just fool the ECM into overshooting the fuel supply but not enough for the code to be set. It may give you a sense of additonal power but the ECM compensates for it and thus the surge effect is temporary.

The only way you are going to get anything extra out of that engine is with a proper retune. Most GM vehicles can be tuned with a program called HPTuners... check around and see if any tunes are available for your vehicle. Chips don't do anything.

if hptuners does make something for your ride, and you can afford it, its definately an amazing program. thats what is used on the firebirds and camaros, and people have had great success with it. if youre bone stock right now i wouldnt even waste the money on it quite honestly. you may pick up 15 horse if youre lucky. obviously you would benefit even greater if you add items such as intake and exhaust, and especially if you go crazy with head work etc
