So I have been looking at the Malibu, and I love the car, but one issue keeps coming up, and it doesn't even relate to me.

I have a friend, and we drive long distance together 6 or 7 times a year. The problem is he is a rather large person.

When he tries to get into the new Malibu (or rather any Epsilon platform it seems) he hurts himself brushing up against a piece of plastic that kinda jets out of the frame area. It's kinda squaresh (sp). I'm sure reading this your going "what the?", but I'm sure you would be able to find it if you looked.

Any idea what is directly under that piece of plastic? Is it vital? Like wires and such...

I doubt I'm going to find a soultion, but I told him I would try to figure it out.

Apparently this issue doesn't exist on the new Epsilon 2 platform. Hopefully there is another solution, but I'm not holding my breath.

You're talking about the interior trim pieces around the door frames? It's what it is, the designers deisgned the interior aroun the door pillars and the rest of the interior. Is there something behind them?Probably, but it also hides the under structure of the unibody as well.
