First timer to the forum. Awesome site, guys.

I have a 2009 LTZ and have noticed this condition since I bought the vehicle. The failure mode is whenever I put load on the power steering pump - mainly during 1-10 mph turning - there is a noise like the pump is struggling. It also occurs when I back out of the driveway in reverse at the point when I stop and shift into drive to go forward. It appears to be worse at cold temps, but I couldn't duplicate with the dealer.

Any feedback on root cause or TSB's would be greatly appreciated.

Also, is there a TSB site we can access from Chevy?

Without more input I'm just offering an idea. When I worked at a Ford dealership's service dept. we could hear a PS pump that needed replaced from a long distance. Usually the cause was a leak that wasn't caught soon enough and the pump ran dry or nearly. Once the damage had been done, even refilling with fluid (PS fluid or some kind of conditioner) didn't stop the noise. The only thing that did was either a complete rebuild or replacement.

I would suggest you first check the fluid level, then check for any leaks. Look under the vehicle for tracks of oil with road dirt then follow to the source.

Is yours electric PS or engine driven? That may be a point of concern as well, since the power comes from an electric motor instead of the engine accessory drive belt.

Hope this helps!

First off, your car looks dynamite! What did you use led lights for? As to the repairs, how many hours for the job and more importantly how is it running now?

Thanks and be well.
Thanks man, the LED's replaced all the overhead bulbs inside the car and in the trunk. I dropped the car off in the am and it was ready by 3 for pickup. Been about 750 miles and no noises or issues since they replaced all those parts.
