I have no knowledge of cars so just putting that out there. My power steering stops working periodically along with the radio. My mechanic says it has to get worse before he can tell what the problem is due to the fact that the car basically has to be taken apart and that would be costly. I bought the car off lease with 25,000 miles and the car fax said no accidents. Mechanic thinks there was unreported accident due to some wires being painted??? I really don’t know what any of this means but I don’t want to lose control of the car because I can’t turn the steering wheel. I’m old. Can someone help me to understand this, thanks!

The car has EPS - electronic power steering.

The earlier models (2008-2012) had more issues with EPS than the later models, but some of the later ones (like yours) have also had issues with EPS. Call a dealer with your VIN handy and ask if there are any recorded repairs that they can share with you, particularly EPS and/or warranty repairs.
