I have a 2015 chevy malibu and I had the transmission(new) by a shade tree mechanic but he couldn't program it. I had another guy come and program the transmission and it started and ran fine for 12 miles and it just died! Power steering icon popped up and wouldn't even turn over! Tried new battery and still won't turn over. I've got $4550 tied up in this paper weight! Could it be electrical? I'm at a loss

Is this a 2.5L or 2.0T car?
What had been occuring to trigger the "shade tree" transmission replacement?
Was it professionally diagnosed?

In the current state it needs a full code scan. You need a scanner capable of reading all 4 code groups - B C P U codes. Following a transmission replacement by someone that didn't know to program or wanted to replace without programming... The possibilities are nearly endless. Scan for codes and check for loose grounds, cables/harnesses as a start. Running for 12 miles could indicate something was loose and then just came apart.
