I read my manual and it shows I have a power steering resevior, but I do not have one anywhere on that engine. Do I need to take it to the dealership. BTW I have 41K miles and I am out of warranty correct?

Just called dealership and they say it could be the electric power steering and they have a resevior but not one you can check or add fliud too. They also want $50 for diagnostics if I refuse to have them fix it after they give me a price. however they said it might be covered under teh powertrain warranty which is 100K miles. Has anyone found this to be true or should I dump this car ASAP and get a new one while it is still a minor proble and has low miles and a decent trade in value.

Better go to the dealer, there's a TSB on the electric assist power steering on a few different years on the Malibu. The dealer can check by the VIN number to see if you're car is one of the affected cars on this.
