I am currently getting ready to go to college and Im going to pick out my first car. I was thinking about a 2010 Malibu it is Cocoa Metallic and the interior is Cocoa/Cashmere w/ Leather and suede. It also has the shiny alloy rims. It has the 4 Cylinder engine. Anyways I wanted to know more about it Hows the steering response? Overall ride? Comfort? Acceleration? Gas mileage? ETC

.............I have already test driven it just want to know what others think. I know it handles i tad bit better than the Impala 2010 LS LT LTZ and SS. But the impala are more quieter and softer ride.

I disagree, I think the Malibu has a far more quiet ride than many other cars out there.

As for gas mileage, I have a 99 mile drive from home to school that I usually get around 26 mpg in. The shiny alloys are plasti-chrome wheel covers. Acceleration is about what you would expect from a 4 cyl. Overall ride is great IMO. All in all a pretty sturdy car. Just don't over pay, Malibus have a terrible re-sale value.

However, if you like to modify your cars, I would suggest another car. Changing a lightbulb is a multiple hour project, wheel choices are limited, and aftermarket parts are scarce.

We sure love pictures.

The response is... responsive haha. I'm not sure what you're looking for, it's a sporty looking family sedan, not a sports car.

The 4-cyl gets EPS (electronic power steering) and it has issues that may need further time to resolve completely. The V6 gets hydraulic PS and I haven't seen or experienced any issues with mine. Had an '09 V6 for 22 months and now my '11 V6 for 4 months.

Overall it's a great car.

I LOVE my 2010 Malibu LS. I have the 2.4 with the 4-spd automatic, and electrontic power steering. I average 27.1 miles per gallon (I'm an easy driver) and commute 36 miles per day (mostly highway), and I like the steering response and handling on my car very much. The ride is quite and comfortable. There seems to be people who don't care for the 2.4 with the electric power steering, but I'm completely happy with mine. Good luck, and enjoy your new Malibu !!!

I agree about the depreciation issue, but if you buy a used Malibu like I did (I paid $13K even, with 28K miles), it's a great thing!:D

You didn't say whether it has the 6 speed transmission or not. The car would make a great school car. Especially if you are going some distance away. The gas mileage is excellent, interior space is great and the flop down rear seat backs can give you a lot of cargo room. If you are person who can pack well you might be able to get everything for your dorm room (stereo speakers, refrigerator, clothes, computer, audio electronics, etc) in the car and still be able to see out the back.
