Hi All

I am afraid this is another tpms thread. I am thinking of getting me a set of winter tires with tpms sensors. So, I plan to pick up a set of new sensors and have a tire shop install those on new tires and rims.
There was a detailed write up of a TPMS learning procedure, I can certainly do that. However, that was in regards to tire rotation. Would that procedure work to learn a new set of sensors as well?

Here's the procedure I found : http://www.chevymalibuforum.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4035&postcount=10

Got the tires this morning. I went with General Altimax Arctic 215/60R16.
I went all the way - alloy rims + sensors. The wheels look pretty nice :)

Got to to the matching procedure sometime soon.

Did the matching last night. It was surprisingly easy even with the summer tires still loaded in the car :)

Yury,

Glad to hear it was simple, how much did everything cost you?
and arm and a leg :) kidding :)

tires + wheels came to 1132 + 191.28 for a set of sensors from my dealer, total 1323 before tax.
Mega Wheelz at Queensway and Dixie. No ordering, got it done on the spot (got the last set of tires they had). Nice clean shop, they seemed professional...However they did overinflate the tires quite a bit and didn't match the sensors....But, that's ok, the price was ok and I didn't mind doing the rest :)

...darn those 2LT 18 inchers are heavy...nearly threw my back off unloading them :)

BTW, I found that many places would gladly install the sensors....Some even offered to order them from GM.

Yury.

You are right the tires way a ton ;-) I had fun unloading them. As for sensors I could have had them installed for aprox the price you paid but I decided against it for now. Maybe next winter. The Malibu runs fine without the sensors..

Cheers,
Zeev
Yeah, the sensors arent really a neccesity, just my perfectionist nature :)

Zeev,

New member here from Brampton. I put winter tires and steel rims on my LT without sensors. The service tire monitor comes on every time I start the car and the (!) stays on constantly. Is there any way to get rid of that or am I stuck with it until April?!

Thanks
Morty
Morty, I am not Zeev but that I think what he and others said is that when you start the car you have to clear the message by come button combination and after that you can drive it ok but the yellow light will be on and there's nothing you can do about it. That's why I decided to shell out extra 200$ for a set of sensors, I know that the light would annoy me quite a bit....
Might have something to do with safety regulations....
