Ok I've had my malibu for about 2 years now. I've typically washed it once a week or two weeks except during the winter months. I have waxed it twice and just general detailing but after washing it a couple months ago I felt along the hood and it was really rough feeling so I thought i would clay bar and wax it again.. Well we finally get a nice day to do so and I wash and detail then clay bar it.. It feels so smooth now but it looks like there is dried up embedded water spots in the paint on the hood.. >.< I always hand dry the car when I get done washing and the clay bar did smooth the surface but it couldnt get the water marks out..

Is there anything out there that might work for this? >.<

This question may seem painfully obvious, but did you wax the car after you used the clay bar? I would think the spots are hard water mineral deposits from water that evaporated before you dried the car. Even if you wash in the shade, if the car is hot, the water will evaporate quickly.

Lets see, in the last 2 yrs you've waxed it twice!! and you wash it bi-weekly and the paint feels rough
Try a good paint cleaner like Meguiars Scratch X or Color X by hand and see how it comes out ;)

On my black '09 I used the "touchy" car washes for about a year and a half. (No hoses allowed in our apartments. :() In June I did the clay bar for the first time ever in my life, then used Meguair's ScratchX 2.0 and SwirlX products that were recommended here on the forum. A lot of work, but they took out all the scratches and swirl marks! Then I waxed it. Next day at work a guy saw it and was so amazed at how good it looked he just knew it wasn't a simple wash job. He asked what I used and I showed him. Thing is, I didn't tell him that I had done anything - he came to me! That's how much of a difference it made!

Yeah I waxed after I did the clay bar treatment.. It made a huge difference but these water spots are etched.. I always dry my car after I wash it but this could have been caused by rain that sat on the car I guess.. The back end is new paint because of the wreck but the roof and sides don't have this its just the front end

Over at Autogeek they have some waterless and also some rinseless products that do wonders.

ONR is really good. Wipe on let sit just a few and then wipe dry.
