Am I correct in saying, there has been four or five BHP changes in the V6 in the Malibu?


V6 3.1 V6 3.5

2000-2003 3.1 170 bhp

2004-2005 3.5 200 bhp

2006 3.5 201 bhp

2007 3.5 217 bhp

2008 3.5 252 bhp

The only one I'm sure about is the 2008+ V6. It's a 3.6 overhead cam. The venerable 3.5 is a pushrod engine.

You are right it is a 3.6 not a 3.5 V6

The 3.1 in the early gen 5's had 155 hp and the 6th gen SS had 240 hp.
