My kids managed to break the directional adjustment on the rear A/C vent in my 2016 Hybrid. I bought an OEM replacement part for $52 with shipping, but my local dealer quoted $189 to install it (1 hour of labor), which just pushes the total repair cost really high given how minor the damage is. (Basically, a tiny piece of broken plastic.)
I'm comfortable enough w/DIY repairs to attempt it on my own with some guidance, but I haven't been able to find any videos or breakdowns of exactly how to remove the old vent from the rear center console and get the new one in. I even sprung for the online Haynes manual, but it didn't have any instructions for that part of the internal trim.
Anyone have any sources or advice? Would I be better off going to a non-dealer mechanic and asking them for a quote? I'd be willing to spend $50-$75 on labor.
