I noticed when I was washing my car that the right rear wheel extends a bit further from the wheel well than the left. I was google'in and found sometimes when the body is mounted it isn't perfectly center. Anyone heard of this or if it can cause any damage down the road?

Have someone drive your car and then follow it. Look at it from directly behind, rear left side (looking down the side) and rear right side. If it looks like it's doing a thing called a "dog leg" then you need a 4-wheel alignment. It should be tracking straight, each rear wheel behing its front one, and the body should look like it's going straight down the road as well. I've seen a few cars here and there that were quite obvious and always hope that mine never does that for miles and miles before I find out.

Mine doesn't seem to doing what you describe yours as doing.

If you've ever seen a puppy running it will sometimes move its hind feet to one side or the other to keep them from running into the front ones. Instead of running in a straight line it looks like the dog is running slightly sideways.

When a car does that it is most obvious when it is being driven in a straight line. One side will look like it is farther over than the other while it trails the front.

Another way to test it is to drive on a surface where you can see your tire tracks clearly. The front and rear track is nearly identical, so if you drive in a straight line it should look like there are only two tracks. If the car is dog-legging then you'll see the rear set of tracks off to one side of the fronts, maybe a little or maybe a lot. The important thing to do if you test it on a surface like that is to be going at a modest speed, not so slow that you can't tell if you're aimed straight, not so fast that you traverse it but might have turned the wheel slightly. Speed=greater distance in less time.

Biggest thing-keep it straight during any test.

So just got back from the dealer ship and have an update on this.

About 3 weeks ago I had a full allignment done on the car, and still have the right tire sticking out a bit when compared to the left.

Dealereship looked at things today, and this is apparently normal! The alignment technician mentioned that as long as the wheels have been aligned to spec (which they were) there is not much they can do about this.

I also put in a call to GM, and their solution was to take it to the dealership so now I guess I have to wait.

Not having any drivability issues, so guess this is just "cosmetic".

So, got a phone call from GM today as a follow up on this issue.

Seems GM is not satisfied with the response given to me by the dealer and they will now do a follow-up with the dealer and get back to me.
