Left rear turn lamp blew out the other day...or at least I think it did. One minute it didn't work, next morning it worked ok for awhile, then stopped working again. Anyway, took it in under warranty while having oil changed, dealer replaced bulb and "reset the computer"..wtf? Was he blowing smoke or do you actually have to reset a computer when you change a light bulb? Anyone know this? Thanks!

Are you sure it wasn't just doing what those bulbs do... you know... blink :p Lol

They may have reset the computer by clearing a code. I know on some cars, when bulbs are out, the check engine light will come on. So, it may in the Malibu and he just cleared the code out. If he didn't do that... Well... Then he probably didn't do anything with the computer. Lol

I never had to clear the code when I changed my bulbs and installed the resistors for the LED's

Neither did I. Just changed the bulb/bulbs-no code clearing.....figured if one was bad, the other one would go soon.....rear that is- changed both on 08.
BTW, the owners manual said correct bulb for rear turn sig. was 3156. When I removed the old one, it was 3157, so back to the store.
Glad the front turn did not go out. Especially after reading that some here had to remove the front bumper. If one does go, I'll see if the dealer will cover it under warranty. Wish I read this forum sooner and done that for the rear lights.:(

Dunno. I questioned him about resetting the computer to change a light bulb and he said "computers drive these cars now" or some BS like that. Who knows really, but glad to hear others have changed bulbs and its as simple as that.
