During my last oil change the shop I have taken my 2014 Malibu 3LT (2.0 turbo) to for several years said I need to have the upper rear control arms replaced at a cost of $600. The car runs fine, no clunks or other sounds from the suspension. Has anyone else had to have this repair done? I have 88,000 miles on mine and don't think I have a problem.

Are you in a salt zone ? If so they may be badly rusted, go under and take a look at them. Stamped / formed steel suspension parts like to rust fast unlike solid steel thick cast components. One of my son's Hyndog's rear arms rusted and snapped and a friends Oldsmobile had badly rusted arms.

is this different than the rear toe links and fasteners replacement under the recall for these cars under recall #N202308930 ???...my understanding is that GM's fix is not yet ready...did your mechanic tell you why you might need new rear control arms???

Thanks. I live in Colorado, but CDOT uses mag chloride instead of salt. When I looked at them with the car jacked up there was virtually no rust. I think the shop was hoping to get some money from me for a replacement that isn't needed yet.

Thanks for the recall number. I'll check it out. The shop said the bushings were starting to wear, and are part of the control arm so I would need to replace the arms and not just the bushings.

Please pick one screen personality, not three. The other one you have is @12Chevy's at the same IP address. Once you choose which one you're gonna use, I'll do what I can to put them all under one name. Thank you.
