Well if distance is an issue, has anyone considered upgrading to the advanced remote start fobs? I believe it has the ability to work at longer distances than the regular fobs.
The screen on the advanced start would show you that.Only thing I wish the remote had was a response when the car is started. A simple beep or vibrate would do wonders.
Yea, it is a pretty penny but I doubt it is that expensive now. I paid $300 for the remote start feature on my Silverado and could have gotten the advanced fobs for only $100 more, the only thing that deterred me from the upgrade was the larger size of the remote. I guess we can't have everything right?Yes, if you paid the dealer for it. IIRC our selling dealer wanted $300 for the option and then $200 to install it. Declined it.
Im not asking for anything much but just a beep or something to let ya know. Its pretty pointless to remote start your car in a mall parking lot 200ft away because you cant hear the horn honk nor the car start that far away usually.
I'm pretty sure it should only cut off if the brake pedal is pushed in, in case someone gets into the car while on. I could be wrong, I'm not one to read the owners manual unless I'm stumped on a feature or something.I read in the manual where the car should cut off when you stick the key in the ignition during a remote start but mine doesn't
I think all you would need is to purchase the fobs and have them programed to the vehicle. All the critical components are already there. It shows an advance start remote as being available for the 2009 Malibu as well, here: http://www.chevrolet.com/malibu2009/pictures/ (click on Accessories at the bottom left)
Does anyone know if the advance start keyfob works with the existing remote start feature? Or does the advance start remote require components being switched out under the hood as well?
I don't know! Someone find out will ya, call a dealer or something. The 2-way fobs never really interested me but after reading more on them I found out one remote can be used for two vehicles! Now I'm interested!Dude, does it fit our cars?
Well that sucks, maybe your problem is the placement of the extended range antenna thingamager.......Its not the first time I have heard of that issue.I got the two way remote system put in my car. I did not have remote start before. I am very disapointed with it. I t will not work unless you have a clear view of the car and are very close. I cann't even start the car from in the house without pointing it out of the window. I payed close to $400 for the system and could have got a really good aftermarket one. I live it Alberta and it is -30C some times and 15min run time is not enough run time. To have to go into thed car and cycle the ign. before it will work again is just STUPID, might as well start the damn thing with the key. I kind of walked into this with a blind eye as I did not research it that much and just wanted something that was compadable with my car and didn't have to be wired in..

Good for you, it is an nice feature to have. My Malibu was already equipped with it but my Silverado was not. I also got the regular one and am now contemplating getting the 2-way advanced.I just ordered the remote start for my Malibu on Monday, and the dealer called to say it's in. When I called to order it they offered me 2 kinds, the one that comes like it does from the factory, or a 2 way one. I just got the regular one.
Check out the GM Accessories website.

Overkill maybe but I like the thought of having one fob for both my vehicles. That way I can carry both keys on me and only one fob that can be used on either vehicle. I'm always misplacing my set of keys and can be bothersome when I need them quickly. The 2 way seems cool, but also seems like overkill at the same time. I wonder what kind of battery the remote uses and how long it lasts. I know my cousin had an aftermarket one before that used AAA batteries and it needed a new set every month.
Yep, it says it on the info I found.I found this info on the 2-way fobs......
