I have a 98 Malibu, 2.4 L. I noticed a ticking sound coming from the lower half of the engine. As time elapsed, it got louder. I have decided to pull the engine and rebuild it. I have removed everything that was attached (fuel rail, started, alternator, a/c compressor, etc.) and have loosened the engine mounts and removed all the bolts from the tranny. But, when I try and raise the engine with the hoist, it won't budge.

Question - is there some trick to removing these engines? Have I missed something somewhere? Any help or hint would be most appreciative.

Thanks in advance!
