I need to get to the back of the radio. How do I get access to that? How much work is involved in removing the radio? Has anyone done this. Anyone have any pics of the job?

Are there any special tools involved?

Is it really easy to break the plastic on the dash?

thanks,
sr

Easy for the most part.

1) pull up on the trim plate around the shifter, and move aside. No need to remove it completely around the shifter.

2) carefull pry the trim piece around the radio and climate controls.

3) carefull pry the trim piece that is above the radio and center vents.

4) You will need to take out several bolts which hold the climate controls in and move the unit to the side.

5) finally a couple of bolts to free the radio.

I think that is all the steps if I remember right. Just take your time prying the trim pieces so you don't brek them and maybe use a micro fiber towel or something between the pieces and whatever you use to pry the off with, especially if you dont have a plastic tool.
