Heater Core Replacement
Removal Procedure




Remove the HVAC module. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement .
Turn the HVAC module over.
Remove the heater core case cover.
Remove the heater core bracket and screw.
Remove the heater core.
Installation Procedure




Install the heater core to the module.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

Install the heater core bracket and screw.
Tighten
Tighten the bracket screw to 1 N·m (9 lb in).

Install the heater core case cover.
Install the heater core case cover screws.
Tighten
Tighten the cover screws to 1 N·m (9 lb in).

Install the HVAC module. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement .

OK so what happened with the cruise control? The suspense is killing me!!! Could be a wire came loose in one of the connectors? Sometimes the little metal connector will slide back out of the plastic thus no longer making connection. Is the speedometer working? Cruise won't work if speedometer doesn't work. Still a great job even if the cruise doesn't work! You can live just fine without cruise!! Gotta have heat/defrosters in winter! Here the car will NOT pass state inspection without operable defroster! You did GREAT! A real bear of a job! I would rather pull the heads replace headgaskets and, timing chain than replace the heater core! But, that's just me!
