I had a Maxima with that feature. Never used it. If it's very hot outside, I would rather hit the remote start and get the A/C going. That's more effective than opening the windows.
I respectfully disagree with that statement.
If the car is sitting outside in the sun with the windows and sunroof closed the temp inside can be around 150 with the outside temp at 90. How long does it take for the AC to move enough heat out of the inside to bring it down to even just 100? Rolling down the windows will do it in a minute or two, and without using gas.
Modern AC systems with R134a aren't nearly as good at cooling as the old R12 ones. They work best with the car moving through the air and with the engine spinning up some. At rest the engine is merely idling at 1000 RPM (at most), and the twin fans on the radiator can pull only so much air and transfer only so much heat.
Without remote windows or remote start, experts (reader: you decide if you want to accept them as such) have commented for years that to get a hot car cooled the fastest, drive with the windows rolled down for a few minutes, then roll the windows back up and turn on the AC if you didn't already. Why? Gets the most heat out of the car the fastest and lets the AC concentrate on reducing the temp from, let's say, 110 instead of a much higher temperature.
You can accept my position or not. It's up to you. I'm merely offering an alternate opinion. If it convinces you as well then that's all the better. I don't consider you to be "less intelligent" just because our opinions differ. I hope I've dignified your right to have your opinion just as I hope I will be by anyone who posts further.
