Hi
I have an 01 Chevy Malibu and have a strange overheating issue.

a while back the coolant light came on, I noticed the lower manifold to head seal was leaking, I drove for a while like this and just added coolant as necessary. Once or twice it got hot enough to boil the coolant.

I changed the gaskets yesterday(wow what a horrible job).
Know it still gets way hot at Idle, it was like 1 tick away from the red on the gauge and I could hear the coolant acting funny.
The electric fans are working and they are speeding up as it gets hotter.

I did replace the thermostat.

My initial feeling is headgasket but I dont really get bubbling in the coolant until it gets really hot so im not sure.

Could it be a rad issue? How likely?

Any help is appreciated
Thanks
Rich
