HI, I have a 2005 Malibu LS 6 cilinders, just bought it about two months ago, I just noticed that when the car is parked in a place that is not flat, like in a ramp or an angled street, the car have problems starting, I have to turn the key about 4 - 5 times in order for the car to start, it sound like it want to start but it wont, somethime I turn off the key but it continues starting, I took it yesterdy to a shop because the engine light turned on, and they told me that I have to replace the Cam Shaft position sensor!!! any toughts????

Welcome to the forum.:) I'm not sure what you're asking since you already have your vehicle in a shop. They obviously scanned and found a relevant diagnostic code. The PCM uses the CMP sensor to time the fuel injectors and, combined with the CKP sensor, to detect misfires.

Maybe you inherited more than one problem with the vehicle. The problem with "a ramp or an angled street" may be accumulated dirt in the fuel supply rail. Your Malibu doesn't have a fuel return line and thus any insolubles that get past the fuel filter will accumulate inside the fuel rail and shift around and, depending on how they settle, starve one or more fuel injectors at startup.

I'm not sure about the "turn off the key but it continues starting" part but maybe you meant dieseling, i.e., engine run-on after being driven and then turned off (without spark/fuel). Be sure to mention that to the shop so it can be checked out.
