Got in my new Malibu this morning to grab my phone out of the console. Shut the door when I got out of the car and the back glass shattered. My back seat is now covered in glass.

The dealer is going to take care of getting it replaced. Great people to deal with.

Has anyone ever heard of this happening?

was it the back glass or the rear door glass.. Someone else posted a while back saying there back door glass shattered.

It was the back glass. I just shut the driver's side door and...crack. I can't drive the car until it gets fixed. Luckily I have another car to drive.

Not me but I have had a car (Scion tC) where the glass roof shattered for no reason.. Shut the door and bam.. Glass all over me

That Scion roof! I crashed in one and was getting glass out of my ears for months. Not to mention everything else that was in the car. What a mess.

This happened a few years ago to a guy at work with a GM van, window shattered for no reason, and had a witness to prove that it wasn’t hit with a bullet. It took some convincing with GM, but they fixed it for free.

This is crazy...I've owned many new cars in my life time and this has never happened to me.
