There was a thread regarding express open and close on the Driver's side window. It appears the LT2 and LTZ have express open and close while the other models just have express open.

I've been using the sunroof the last couple of days and I realized that there is just an express open. No Express Close. That's a little inconvenient. When I want to close the sunroof, it would be nice to have it close automatically rather than hold the button until it closes. I've had other cars with sunroofs that had both express open and close.

Did anyone notice if they have an express close on their sunroof?

Also, I don't like that you have to hit the button twice to get the sunroof to open. The first time you hit it, it goes to the vent position. Then you have to hit it again to get it to open. With my last car, if the sunroof was closed and you hit the button towards the closed position, the vent would open. If you moved it towards the open position, the sunroof would slide open.

Also, it would have been nice if the Malibu had the ultraview sunroof. At the fully open position, the Malibu sunroof seems to be only 3/4 open. It's a nice feature this time of year, but it's sort of an old style sunroof.

Kind of a quirky mechanism for the sunroof, but I will say it was a much cheaper option on the Malibu than other cars I've had. I think I paid around $750 for the Malibu Sunroof. It might have been double that on other car's I've owned.

I really only use the sunroof in the spring time anyway. Once the really warm weather arrives, I use the A/C.

@RWP:
Just a heads up: I plan to add express up/down to my other 3 windows AND my sunroof. Hopefully today (Saturday) if the weather holds, but soon if not.

I bought the necessary modules for the other 3 windows (2 DEI530T modules that each control 2 windows up/down) and another for the sunroof (DEI529T - 2 motors 1 direction or 1 motor 2 directions). Plus I bought a DEI452T door lock pulse generator, but that probably won't be part of the system. It just seemed interesting so I got it.

Once I do I'll post up some pics and maybe a how-to for the sunroof. I've already got the how-to for the windows (see sig).

I hope you are aware of the safety hazzard (and potential liability problem) of express up for any window. That's why none of the new models have that feature anymore.
Yes, I'm aware of the risk. My driver's window has express up from the factory. It's a feature found on the 2LT and LTZ models. I had it on my '09 2LT as well.

As far as liability goes, both the factory version and the modules I installed on the other 3 windows have a feature that reverses the motion if a blockage is detected. I don't know the amount of force needed to cause it to reverse, but I can certainly confirm it does.

When I installed the modules for the other 3 windows I wired it so that the front passenger can use their switch for express in both directions, but the rear windows express only from mine. That way, even if some child should sneak into the back seat and start operating the windows, they'll have to hold the button on purpose.

I knowingly took the step to add express up to my other 3 windows because it's my car and no one else drives it.

By the way, did you notice that the design of the switches is consistent with Best Practices regarding safety? A child or animal cannot use an accidental press to cause the window to lift. The switch must be lifted to lift the window. On older vehicles the switches were simple rockers that could be actuated by pressing down, causing the window to trap an infant or animal who unwittingly stepped or leaned on the switch.

There is no express close on the sunroof due to safety issues. Should someone for some reason have their head or arms or whatever through it and there was express close, there could be serious injury if the switch were hit, either on purpose or accidentally.

My sunroof closes automatically when I turn the ignition off.

What did you do to make it do that? It's not a factory sunroof, is it?

It is not a factory installed sunroof.
