I was just curious if there's anything crazy that has to be done to swap out a single disc with a like year 6 disc? Is it just a matter of getting a security code for the new unit? With all the OnStar and chimes tied to radios these days I just don't know anymore... And are the 6 disc players the only ones that get the USB port?

I'm not crazy about the system, but it really isn't that bad. I think the factory unit looks good and functions well enough if I could have the 6 disc and USB. Then I can work on the speakers someday.

i found that the 3.5 mini jack is better - my cell phone connects, the builtin MP3 player sounds great, & the hands free mode works through the onstar speaker. The usb port would have triggered my phone into flash drive mode and wouldnt have given me the same abilities. besides, with XM radio i only need 1 cd, and with a large memory card in the phone i nearly have my full cd collection in my phone.

Well, I never use the 3.5 It can't be controlled, and I have the factory Bluetooth for my phone. We had a Kenwood in the wife's old Civic with USB. I kept an 80GB hard drive in the glovebox with 50GB of music. Would be nice to have that ability and control again, and I could move the jack to the back, so no wires hanging...

I was thinking if I could find a unit with the USB I'd just swap face plates with my current one, and move the USB to the back...

So, am I correct in assuming there's nothing tricky about these? Just find a like year CD player, and swap?

To put in another radio you need to program your VIN into it, takes a Tech 2.
AAAHHH! That's what I was afraid of... I'll just put the Kenwood in my Buick, and listen to XM in the Malibu... assuming it's out of the service department long enough...

Sorry, just one of those days...
