I took delievery of my 09 2LT about 10 days ago. Soon after I noticed that the yellow icon which shows a car with a lock through it was coming on as I drove. A quick check of the manual told me it was the theft deterrent system indicator and should only come on when the system is active,, that is after the car is parked and locked. As it didn't seem to effect the operation of the car and I planned to drop by the dealer and talk to them about it. Well, the next day the icon came on again while driving. I stopped at a store and when I tried to restart the car it would not. No power to the starter, and sure enough the TD icon was still on, no amount of pressing my remote would clear the icon. I contacted OnStar hoping they could clear the system, they could not. I phoned the dealer, they said wait 20 minutes and it might clear, if not get a tow in. The dealer was correct, after about 20 minutes of trying the car started and the icon went out. I drove to the dealership. After some trouble shooting they stated that a new TD module would have to be ordered and installed. They gave me a loaner and and said up to a week for the part. The part came in after 2 days and it took them an addition day and a half to get the part installed and programmed. I got the feeling from the service manager that it was a difficult job. Picked the car up two days ago, so far so good.

Sorry to hear about your problem 09Malibultz - sounds exactly like my problem. Does your yellow thieft deterant light come on while you are driving down the road and stay on? Mine did. Usually if you stop the car with this light stuck on the car will not start again. Maybe if you are lucky you can take it to the dealer with the light on and they will believe you. With mine I was able to drive it to the dealer and it failed for them so they had to believe me. The dealer said that changing out the module was a big job so I guess they don't want to do it unless they are absolutely sure that is the problem however after two incidents they should take your word for it.
