Going to be doing a bit more traveling next year and need a little more room to carry some equipment but still want a nice ride and not a truck or large suv..

My local dealer has an 09 HHR SS with the upgraded brakes and power options and its a really nice price..

What i really wanted was a Panel SS but i cant seem to find any new or used.. but going to check out the regular SS tomorrow..

Anyone here own an HHR?

My buddy owns a Cobalt SS with the same powertrain. I've driven it, makes nice power and torque for such a small engine and is fun to drive. I just hated the shifter which I'm sure can be swapped out for a Hurst or something. Better look fast though. The Cobalt and HHR SS are discontinued.

They still show them on the GM site as available and there are quite a few 09 new ones still around. I havent seen or read anything about them being discontinued

Found a Black on Black 09 Automatic same place I bought the malibu but found a Silver with Black/Red Two Tone and Manual a little ways away..

Yeah we drove one a while back.. I really like them but i like the HHRs Fun Factor and Styling better :)

What I really want is a Panel SS HHR but sadly just over 200 were made so unless I luck up on a used one its going to be near impossible to find one

The HHR SS Panel is discontinued not the regular HHR SS. With a lack of sales of the Panel version GM decided it wasn't worth offering them anymore. You can find the HHR panel at some dealers across the country.

Well I went looking at both HHR's the 5spd and the Auto and I must say I really like them.. Neither dealer wanted to budge on the price of the HHR or the trade.. Wanting to give me 16K trade for an 09 LTZ fully loaded with only 12K miles on it.. I ended up walking out with both after both dealers basically saying we cant sell them

Shoot for the manual. The 2.0L TC engine is great, but the autos they knock the power down on.
Thats the funny thing. I drove both the auto and the manual and the auto seemed more responsive and quicker.. The manual seemed very sluggish of course there could have been something wrong with it lol but I really enjoyed the smooth ride the automatic had compared to the other one

Thats pitiful on the trade. We got offered 19k for trade after we told them we still owed 21K (we only owe 16) on our 09 with 19k miles.

If you cant get rid of it just fold down the seats if you have to. It allows a lot of extra room.

Also, if you dont like the styling of the the Equinox try the Terrain. Totally different look and feel there as well. Was a little more harsh and sporty feeling to me.

Sadly folding down the seats doesnt help.. I cant get the equipment I need to carry in through the doors or the trunk

That's basically what I experienced with my 2LT V6 this summer. It was really hard to get a good trade-in on a Bu, and especially on V6. All the marketing GM had going for the new onces basically killed the resale for me. Not so much the actual discounts, but the appearance of them. "Discounts up to 8500" message seemed to leave the impression that discount on ALL models is 8500$. However, in reality the discount for my trim level was only about 3-3.5 grand which was basically the same price it was when I bought it in 08 (with different promotions going). That, and general reluctance to buy a V6 painted a pretty bleak picture.

I think I will be reluctant to buy GM in the future regardless of how good they may be. In reality the car cost me more than I thought even considering the early trade scenario.

well a few things first about the trade you can always try and sell it privately...Remember dealers are their to make money and they know dam straight they can resell your LTZ for more then 16K keep pressuring them and they will budge ask for the manager if needed...

About the HHR, now I don't want to sound like a jerk but the car is a piece of crap... my grandfather bought one had it for 6 weeks and the thing fell apart on him literally... the dealer not wanting to make a big problem out of it gave him his money back (this is in Canada no lemon law here.) I have heard nothing but bad things about the HHR and every person I know who at some point and time bought one have nothing good to say about it.

alright now that I have said that I will say this if you have driven the car and you like the feel and ride and looks then I think nothing should matter as long as you like it then you have made the right choice.

good luck with which ever new car / SUV you get.
