Take a clean rag and spray some Brakeclean or Choke Cleaner on the rag, open the throttle plate and wipe off the residue on the housing.[on the inside] Of course this is after you've taken the hose off the housing. I haven't looked at the throttle asm on the BU but I've done it on many of the other GM cars.

You just spray it into the throttle body while it is running, and rev it a little as your doing it. It cleans the TB, and the intake etc....they sell a pour in one too if it's really dirty.
Hey SilverLTZ! Don't mean to get off the subject, but my zip is 75104. I couldn't find the thread about your rims. Sorry.

So I clarified this with the dealership. They remove the entire air intake and clean out the throttle body every 30K miles ($100). I hate it when certain service desk people try to move up service intervals. I think I will tackle this one myself, $100 seems a bit high for this type of work. Maybe.

Or, you could not worry about it and the car will never know the difference. These kind of services are mostly to give the dealer a revenue source. I run 50K plus per year, run my cars 200K plus and NEVER have cleaned a throttle body with no repercussions. My cars run as well at 200K as when new. They don't make them like they used to, thank heaven!

Youd be surprised how much gunk gets on the back of the TB. It adds up for sure. Its not hard to clean a TB and I wouldnt pay the stealership $100 to do it.
