Hey,
I am looking to put 18's on my lt. However I don't want to spend the extra money for the tire pressure sensors. Is it mandatory to have the tire pressure sensors? If they aren't needed and only serve for tire pressure sensing then I will not buy any. Do they have anything to do with sensing the speed or anything else other than tire pressure sensing? I will also be keeping my stock 17's as snow tires.

no it is not mandatory you will just have to put up with the tpms light being on on the dash and the tire pressure readings wont be available

Oh well thats not too bad at all. I dont need the readings I can watch the car's tires on my own people did without then forever. When I put back on my wheels with the sensors come winter will the computer have to be reset/reflashed or will I have to unplug the battery or something? Also is that all it throws of is the tire pressure readings? Nothing else such as mpg's, etc?

So long as you mark the wheels and put them back on the same one you should be okay. Relearning is pretty straightforward and it's in the manual.

Just buy another set. Discount Tire has a set for about $100.

I will have to double check that when. I priced the rims and went to checkout and they suggested tire pressure sensors for all 4 rims installed for approximately $220.

I got a new set from my local DD and it was $126 with tax.

I'm surprised that no one has brought up the issue of factory all season "stock 17's as snow tires." I would've thought the winter like we are having made a compelling case for real winter tires.

I had that darn light on my truck for a month (one of the TPMS sensors went out) and I couldn't stand it. Shop around some and get them on your new set.

That's good advice...Ive looked around and people say its annoying always seeing that light, plus there is some kind of sound that reminds you apparently? Not sure if that's vehicle specific, nonetheless it'd be annoying, mights as well get em...gonna have the car for a long time.

Wow that's not bad at all, I shall shop around, would definitely make me rethink putting them on, I mean I plan on owning this car for years to come so it would be a wise investment.

Hell yeah! Here where I am in Ohio the season has been pretty bad, and I know my factory tires are all season, they're good, however I would like that extra security on my new car.
