Welcome to Chevy Malibu Forum!

As the founding and premier tuner for the 8th and 9th Gen Malibu, we at TRIFECTA Performance have always done our best to keep the platform fresh and exciting - whether it be by developing useful and innovative features, or by supporting the latest aftermarket hardware. We are always ready to deliver great performance for totally stock cars, or for as many hardware combinations our customers can think of!

For anyone unfamiliar with how our tuning works, we develop and maintain our own software and interface hardware for tuning Malibu and other GM models.

Developing our own tuning solution gives us the flexibility to locate and tune any parameter we need to, or in some cases, add our own custom code to the vehicle's powertrain control modules!

We leverage this ability to deliver features like Driver Selectable Vehicle Modes, Performance AutoStop Mode (LTG/LFV), and others.

Beyond the software, we also maintain and modify our own development vehicles. These cars are used to develop our finished products via a combination of long-term street and dyno tuning, and are also used to ensure we can support any of the many available aftermarket parts for the Malibu. From intake and exhaust components, fuel system components, intercoolers, and aftermarket turbos, we test it all and validate our calibrations before they reach our customers' vehicles. This method ensures the quality and reliability of our products, and allows us to offer competitive pricing no matter the complexity of a build.

To that end, we have two simple service levels/price tiers:

TRIFECTA Advantage:

71169

If your car is stock, or has certain modifications which "just work" and do not require tuning, you can simply plug and play with our "canned" tune. Advantage customers receive full customer support for as long as they own their vehicle. Custom tuning is not offered at this tier, and the price reflects it. It is a great entry level option if you want to get 90% of the potential out of the stock turbo with one mod!

TRIFECTA Elite:

71168

If you have any mods which require tune customization, or have special requests, our Elite tier offers unlimited updates for mods/requests for as long as you own the car. There are no extra charges once you go Elite, and if you have Advantage already, you can simply upgrade to Elite for the difference in price at any time.

Regardless of which tier you choose, rest assured you’re getting a committed and dedicated support and service team to answer your questions, provide recommendations on mods, and provide any assistance you may need before, during, and after your purchase with TRIFECTA.

Hey avxkim! We are able to calibrate your 2020 Malibu! Feel free to contact our sales team at Contact Us - trifectaperformance.com
That's pretty cool news. I didn't know you were able to do the 2020 1.5s now. Your signature and website need updates to reflect that! Many owners may be interested in that now. I'll let people know you confirmed.

Re: 2020 Chevy Malibu 1.5T
Hello,
Thanks for the inquiry. This vehicle (2018+ 1.5T Malibu) has one of the newer ‘secure’ ECUs from GM that's technically untunable by anyone. The good news is we have developed a way to provide tuning support for them.
However, the solution we have developed to program these vehicles requires that you remove the Engine Control Module (ECM) and ship it to us so we can gain access to it. We would then ship it back to you and you would be able to program the vehicle normally with our software. This is a cost-intensive process but as one of the new customers receiving this new service, we would waive the fees for this.
So, we would just have you purchase a standard Malibu 1.5T calibration. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

I purchased the “canned” tune for my 2016 Premier 2.0T around four years ago. Wow! What a difference! It was like a whole different car! It really woke it up. I have since sold the car, and replaced the stock tune. (It felt like I had the e brake on on the way to sell at Carmax!) i would recommend the run to anyone who wants the Malibu run at its full potential. My question is how to go about reselling the tune. Unlike a handheld tuner, I can’t physically “hand” the tune over.

Would you have anything for my '06 3.5?
Thank you for your interest in TRIFECTA! We do not offer tuning for your vehicle at this time.

Question.
I bought a Trifecta tune for my 2016 Malibu Premier about 6 months ago.
Unfortunately, that car has met an untimely demise. I now have a 2016 Malibu 2LT with the same 2.0 Turbo.
Can I use the tune I purchased for my first Malibu in my second Malibu?
