I have had some slight issues with my Malibu..I took it in to have a major dent fixed on my back driver side door and when I got it back my trunk button on the door doesn't work. It works on my key fob but not the button on the driver's door. So I took it in this week to get the button fixed as well as an alignment and balance on my tires because the car was vibrating and pulling to the left. Well come to find out the vibration and pulling was because I had a bent rim and then the trunk button they told me was the BCM. So they fixed the rim and said they replaced the BCM and then they asked if I put any after market items on the vehicle. I had a remote start installed on the vehicle and that is what they said was the reason for the trunk button not working. I told them that I would pick up the car and take it to the guy that installed the remote start. So not that I got my car back I find that my steering wheel cruse control buttons are not working not. The information and reset buttons work right below the cruise buttons but the set and resume buttons do not work. So I am wondering if this dealership is messing with my vehicle because every time I get it back something else is not work.

Any suggestions because I am getting extremely frustrated!!

The left button on for the cruise control is the power button. Press it in to turn it on and a small yellow light will illuminate. If it doesn't then it could be one of the fuses. There are a total of 4 that work together to make the CC work. Under the hood they are fuses 20 and 21 (20A, 30A); under the center console (right side, front) they are Cluster/Theft and Run/Crank (10A, 2A). Any of those could cause the CC not to work.

For the trunk, if the remote works but the button doesn't, it's not the fuse. It's entirely possible that the source of the dent or the work that was done damaged the wiring; my money would be on the work, as a dent in one door shouldn't cause the button in another to fail. The brown/white wire from the trunk release button goes to the BCM, then a light blue goes to the relay, which sends the 12V power signal to the trunk release motor via a tan/white wire. The trunk release motor is wired to ground on the other side of the motor.

Has there been any other damage to your car? Any other work? Modifications? Mods don't necessarily mean that the CC or trunk won't work, but they could so I ask.

Thanks for the reply I did have a an after market remote start put on the car but everything was working fine for over a year. I didn't start having problems until I took it in to get the dent removed from the back drivers side door.

Re: Trunk Button and Cruise doesn't work Solved

Problem Solved!!!

So the cruise control was that the BCM was not programed right and that they replaced the break sensor

The trunk button ended up being that the C10 terminal was bent.

Cool! Thanks for sharing. I'm curious, though. How did the C10 terminal get bent?
