Power Tripping With General Motor’s CEO Rick Wagoner
by Kathleen Foster

The Christmas spirit has already taken hold in Birmingham, Michigan. A layer of snow covers the ground. Tasteful lights and wreaths adorn the stately homes. A brightly colored Christmas tree shines in Rick Wagoner’s front window. Perhaps General Motor’s CEO will take some of this Christmas Spirit with him to Washington today, where he’s hoping Congress will give his company a big present this year.

There is no private jet this time. Wagoner will make the 525 mile trek to Washington, D.C. in a 2009 Chevy Malibu Hybrid. We’re here to give FOXNews.com readers a front-seat-passenger view of the trip, keeping an eye on pit stops, like how often the hybrid has to stop for gas and where Wagoner takes his pit stops.

Not just another car ride for GM CEO Wagoner

Associated Press - December 3, 2008 9:04 PM ET

The head of the nation's largest automaker took perhaps the most important car ride of his life today.

General Motors chief Rick Wagoner traveled 500 miles from Detroit to Washington, where he'll ask Congress for a second time to save his slumping company.

Two weeks ago, Wagoner flew to Washington on a corporate jet.

This time the chief executive of GM made the trip in a black hybrid Chevrolet Malibu, driving part of the way.
