Any idea what chevy vehicle these wheels came from? I needed tires for the wife's g6 and for the price of cheap tires I got new tires and wheels too (CL deal). The guy said they were take-offs from a 2010 chevy Malibu and they have the OEM GM part numbers cast into the back sides of the wheels (which I didn't write down of course and they are at home now). If they "were" from a Malibu they should fit the g6 (bolt pattern 5x110) but the bolt pattern on the wheels is too small (5x4" or 5x4.25" I'm guessing). I emailed the guy and he swears they were off a 2010/2011 Malibu but I thought it was funny that they didn't have wheel weights installed yet so I had to have them balanced... I'm just curious if anyone recognizes this particular wheel since I can't find it anywhere online (its very similar to a 2008/2009 Malibu wheel though). Thanks!

Dont know what they are from - but if the bolt pattern is smaller then your Malibu - then I would have to guess Colbalt - HHR or something in that size range but not sure ....sorry.

Thats the thing... as far as I can tell the cobalt SS and HHR both have identical 5x110 bolt patterns (non SS cobalt is 4x100 which is obviously not what these are). The impala and equinox are larger at 5x115. These are a mystery. I had hoped that there was a part number cast onto the back of the wheels. What I found was:

GM
DHA No. 1
17x7.0J
XIS42
09

I wasn’t sure if the XIS42 was an I or a number 1 so I tried google searching both and didn’t really find anything. Anyone have insight?

Yeah thats what a buddy just found out for me just an hour ago. Now WTF do I do... they are obviously not property that should have been sold. I've heard this is not uncommon in this area (Detroit). I have a feeling the guy will certainly not answer his cell # if I call (or email) and if I tell anyone at GM they are just going to take them from me. I test-fitted them on my subaru and they don't fit 5x100 either or I'd have just used them as snow tire wheels :)

This is interesting. How would someone get a hold of not yet in production wheels from the factory? You could wait till the car comes out and then sell them. I would watch out for the black tahoes rolling up and the authorities swarming your house, just kidding :). I do like the look of the wheels though.

Guess I'll just put the tires on the g6 and hold onto the wheels for a while. I really like the wheels and wish they fit at least one of my vehicles :( I'm sure once the cruze is out I can get some decent $ for these. The machined outer face might make them more desirable than the painted silver ones shown in all the online picts.

Are you sure they didn't mount up to the Bu because of the hole pattern or is because of the hub bore size? Maybe the hub bore is too small and this is causing the mounting issue.

As for the XIS42, I work for a company that works in development of parts from prototype up to production. I know for a fact that GM uses the 'X' pre-fix during development. Then the name changes. For example the existing 6T transmission in the Bu was called X22F when it was in prototype. The 6L (RWD Trans) was called X15R.
So maybe the XIS42 is the prototype part number.
If it turns out to be a prototype, some one is in big crap for letting them get out before production.

Also note that the Cruze from the Car Show (from link above) is running the exact same tire as well - Continentals. Now that seems almost too coincedental. It looks like these were wheels off a 'car show' Cruze - pre-production.

I would keep them and also keep them on the DL......like - delete this post....not sure if you should have rims from a vehicle that is not even in public production yet....

Hi guys
just let you know that here in Mexico, chevy cruze has been available for sell for about a year ago, so these wheels could be removed from a mexican cruze, dont know, just guessing.
What a nice forum you guys have here! Congratulations!
