My dealer uses Quaker State Synthetic Blend - 5W30. Keep in mind the oil life system is calibrated to dino oil, so it's hard to justify a switch to synthetic oil since you'll be on the same oil change interval regardless.

Perhaps; but it is my cash to waste. I figure it can't hurt to have some good stuff in it. Makes me feel better with the extended miles put in before a change when going by the oil life monitor. I usually run my vehicle until it starts falling apart and my last one ran well still when it did.

walmart special - supertech with a napa filter. napa had a sale recently in the area, and i got 5 filters for $5. and i dont believe in spending money for name brand stuff. it comes off the same line as the generic stuff at the factory. for example - chevy cobalt and pontiac g5. it all comes down the same line. (or did, before pontiac got the axe.)

another example, we have a Dean Dairy plant in my town. lots of my family works there. they bottle milk at that plant under the names: "Deans", "Country Charm", and "Great Value". One is a brand for Giant Eagle Stores, one is a WalMart brand, and One is Deans own brand. The ONLY difference in the 3 brands is which label machine that jug got run through. thats it. if you ever get a chance, look at the top of a milk jug. if it says 42-075, that jug came from the deans plant in Sharpsville PA. And 9 times out of 10, all of the jugs in the case, no matter the name, all came from the same place. at least in my neck of the woods. just my opinion.

I have been using AMSOIL synthetic for years in all my vehicles. 25,000 miles or 1 year oil change intervals. I never really had much faith in the oil monitor systems. I use WIX oil filters in the Malibu because AMSOIL doesn't have a filter for the Malibu yet. The WIX shouldn't go 1 full year but with this canister design it works great to replace the filter every 6 months and then just top off the oil. Hopefully AMSOIL will get a EAo filter desined for the Malibu then you can go 1 year with the filter as well.

Pennzoil Platinum Synthetics 5-30w, AC Delco Oil filter.
I switched to synthetics from Pennzoil dino oil for the good deal on Pennzoil Platinum $15 rebate (just got $30 walmart gift card rebate from them yesterday). I feel that the engine runs smoother with the synthetic oil.

You may be right about the milk, Con Agra has a pudding plant here that makes other brands than Hunts snak pak but just because something is made in the same plant doesn't mean the quality is the same especially oil. Supertech oil would't have the same quality additive pkg that Castrol or Mobil even if it were bottled in one of those plants. As for your filter, NAPA golds are made by wix not sure about the standard NAPA ones though.

I don't care what GM says I don't believe Wally world oil is going to keep my engine in the same condition over 200K miles with extended drains as well as a top shelf oil would.

I used to run Mobil 1 & Castrol Syntec, but since I was doing 6mo/5k miles I was wasting money on synthetic. I now stick to Castrol GTX dino. Since I don't race my cars, or do extended OCI, I'll stick with the dino. Not only will my car last just well as it would on synthetic, but I have more $$$ as well.

qs 5w 30. Every 5k miles with fram filter. ($ 14 dollars total each change at home)
Same set up I used in my chevy avalanche that has 172k miles and not a drop of oil used between changes.
No doubt oil is subjective and we could go on and on.. What works for you- stick with it.. i will stick with the cheap stuff!
22k miles on my 09 malibu had 8 months! Runs like a charm!
34mpg at 73 mph on interstate. above that the mpg starts dropping quite good.

I use Mobil 1 supersyn 5w-30 and a Napa gold (aka wix) filter. I used to use Royal Purple but it's not worth the money in an ecotec. I use RP for the oil, trans, and diff fluids in my race car however.

I am using dino oil but switching to syn with next change with pure one filter. A large majority of my driving is highway. I am changing oil at 7,500 with OIC reading 50%. I can't bring myself to run the oil longer. Even at 7,500 miles the oil still looks good. 4 banger w/6 spd.

why do all you use the k&N filter? its such a rip off

Look in the k&n and look at the fram or Wix

fram being the ***** paper model and wix being a nicer model... k&n is no difference in a Wix filter

save your 10$ every 3k miles or so... even in my 351w mustang coupe, wix all the way
