Ay,there fellas. My baby sis has an 2011 malibu lt that she wants to fix up.I recently had an 2010 hhr that I had fixed up but got rid of and stayed with the rims. They are borghini 19s 18" chrome wheels.I know they will fit and I want to surprise her with them but I'm not sure if the tires I have on them will work. They are 235/40/18s.Now I read that 235/50/18 will work,so will that ratios diffrence(40&50) make a huge diffrence on the ride or the speedometer? Thanks ahead of reply, and God bless everyone.

According to Discount Tire, if the 50-series reads 65 mph, the 40-series will read 60.6 mph.

I have had set of Michelin 235/50-18 tires and am currently running a set Kelly Edge HP of the same size. The worst I had was a little rubbing when turning the wheel to full lock.

The stock tire size is 225/50R18, so 235/50R18 will be slightly more tire diameter and 235/40R18 will be slightly less diameter than stock. It's no big deal either way.
