Did you go by the "oil life" reading?

Mine has about 800 miles and 85% oil life left. I know there's technically no break-in period anymore with these new cars, but I just can't help wanting to change that oil soon.

I'm at about 2770 miles and 67% life expectancy left. I plan to change the oil at 3000 and every 3000 thereafter. Cheapest insurance you can buy.

I changed the oil at 1000 miles I used castrol GTX and ac delco filter. Next change is at 4000 no matter what the DIC says.

1000 first change, 3000 second, 5000 second, 5000, last. After I got my oil anaylsis back last time they said I could stretch it out to 6K. I have been using dyno oil and it has been holding up fine. No real reason to switch to Syn oil since mostly all I drive are highway miles.

then every 3000 i change it.
at about 30000 i swapped to Valvoline full synthetic for the 300000 mile warranty.

Wishful thinking GTP, thrashing that poor 4 banger no oil warranty is gonna cover thrown rods and bent valves :D:D:D
I don't doubt that the Ecotec motor will last a long time with regular oil changes. I do doubt that the rest of the vehicle will keep that long. Chances are, those of us who buy new and agonize over synthetic oils and oil change intervals are just benefitting the next owner.

I changed my 3.6L at 1000 miles & every 3K after that. I've always used Pennzoil & a Delco filter. So far no problems. My car is 6 mo old now & has yet to see the dealer for anything.

Just changed the oil with 1600 miles on it. I put Amsoil in. Amsoil blows Mobile 1 or any other synthetic oil away in testing. I use it in my motorcycle too. I have a 1996 Pontiac Sunfire convertible with 188,00 on it. Never had any problems with the motor. My Amsoil guy is awesome! I just call and he deliveres it to my house. I pay $6 a quart.

I bought a 3/36 LOF and tire rotation contract with my car so it has been changed about every 3K miles. Later I found out about the OLM. The selling dealer two months ago asked me not to come back to them for service (search for the thread I started if you want to read more) and I have yet to receive any refund for that contract. Once I do I'm switching to full synthetic and using the OLM as a guide. I plan to go to about 10%. Currently I get to 3K miles with ~75% on the OLM so I figure I'll get a little over 10K between changes.
