I plan on getting the Malibu's windows tinted; however, I am really uncertain about how to go about it.

It is illegal for front windows to be tinted in Illinois, so I will not be getting them done. I have always had the back three windows done between 8-10%. It has not looked that bad (one car was red, the other burgundy). My dilema is that I do not know how it will look on a black car. I think it may look goofy having the back three done. What does everyone else think?

Does anyone have any pictures of an '08-'09 Black Granite Malibu with just the back 3 windows tinted? If so, please post pics. It would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think I have any pics but when I started tinting mine I only had the back windows done at first because of time and me doing them myself I took my time. I later went back and finished up the fronts.

Even with mine being red it looked ok with just the back, You can do a Front 6" Strip to which will help darken the cabin a bit so the front windows wont stand out as much if that's what your worried about but you can always go with a lighter tint so it blends in more with the front windows,, Do like a 32 on the back doors then 20 on the rear or whatever combination you like

I have 5% on the back of my cavy with 20% on the front (yes illegal in illinois) but you could do something like a 35% on the front (this was on my wife's old cavy.) it was enough but not too much

Yay for the J-Body kit.. My 00Z24 had the Rksport J-body Kit, Ram Air Hood.. I loved that car

I'm worried about the front windows, as well as the backs being too dark. I want it dark enough to where you can't see inside. I'm thinking maybe 15%. It'd be really nice to see a black malibu w/tint.

I had 15% on my Scion and it was dark but you could still see in,

The 5% on the malibu is crazy dark compared to other cars I've had with 5%,

I think the low /short windows and the angle doesnt let as much light in,

Since your in IL go ahead and limo out the back windows but if you touch the front you run the risk of getting a ticket.. Its just if you want to hassle with it..

it also depends on your sex. my wife has gotten pulled over in my car a few times (5% on rear and 20% on front of a dark green car) without an issue. (well has been asked on a date by a few of them)

Sounds like there pretty lax on it, thats how they are here. There not allowed to pull you over for tint by itself but if you get pulled over for something else they can tack on the fix it ticket if they choose to..

Ive never even been asked about my tint in any of my vehicles and all have been 20% or less but even if they did im allowed lol

I had limo tint on the grand am, that was way too dark. I believe that was 5%. I think I went with 10-15% on the Mazda. I've been reading that 15% and even 20% on a black car is pretty dark. I wonder if I take it to the tint shop if they would be able to hold up some samples so I can get a rough idea.

Yeah I think they would be able to.. here is mine with 5% and I have to say I think its a bit to dark at times but I love it lol

Very sharp! I like that. It's unfortunate that the fronts are illegal here.

The lighter tints allow full view into the car with the help of a little sunshine,
I saw two like this today in IL.
I want to believe that all the cool troopers
will see you and the problem is if they cant.
