I'm considering a used Malibu hybrid for my daily and curious what the long term reliability is? I see a lot of 2016s for sale with 45k miles on them but am skeptical of hybrids.

Also, does anyone know I'd the hybrid components are covered by the powertrain warranty? I have one local to test drive so if I like it, I may seek o ih t certified used

Certified used can be a great way to go on any purchase. Certified extends the power train mileage warranty. Hybrids already have built-in extra coverage for certain hybrid components. Take a look at some info on page 13-15 of the 2016 warranty booklet:

The only question would be how limited part stock is now that the Malibu Hybrid and cousin Volt are discontinued. Other than some sporadic electrical issues I haven't seen anything alarming regarding the hybrid powertrain. Long term reliability is yet to be known as 75k is the highest I have seen on this forum. Perhaps that is a good sign!

Good luck!
