Fuel in oil pan

Every time I change the oil in my hybrid the dealer informs me I don't drive the car enough because my oil pan is full of fuel. I believe this is a crock of s**t. I have been arguing with Chevy for over a year that there is something wrong with the engine and it will fail prematurely if this doesn't get fixed soon. They just keep telling me to drive it more. Has anybody else experienced this problem?

Fuel can naturally accumulate in the crankcase and requires a occasional longer drive to evap and burn off. That is something that can occur with frequent cold starts and short trips such as less than 5 minutes as well as long periods of idle. The fuel in oil usually goes unnoticed by owners. On the other hand, it can also come from a leaking high pressure fuel pump or leaking injector. Both can and should be tested by the dealer especially if they are the people bringing it to your attention. I believe a pcv orifice or valve could also be an issue. Either way the dealer needs to isolate the other possible causes before chalking it up to driving habit.

to demonstrate this the GFs oil would from time to time have the whiff of fuel in the oil when checking...her drive was very short and when she moved 8 months ago where she now has a slightly longer drive to work her car hasn't had any odor of gasoline in the oil...I think campb292 as well as your dealership nailed it...

before the GF moved, I would take her car from time to time on a longer drive (20-30 minutes or some highway driving) just to alleviate this issue of gasoline in the oil...that worked as well...

Good luck with your car
