Hey all,

I have a 2016 Malibu 1LT, and my Engine light came on yesterday. I ran the codes, and they came up as P171A and P171B, but couldn't find much information about these codes. I do have an appointment set for tomorrow with the dealership, but want to know what I'm about to get into here.

Any information about these codes are appreciated!

Additional info: This particular model was recalled due to a part that could potentially cause a cracked piston. The dealership did a full oil change and updated some software I believe. This recall was completed about two weeks ago.

UPDATE 1: My friend actually works at my dealership and was able to get some additional information. He said that I need a new Transmission Control Module, which, in my case, is covered by the warranty still.
He also did mention that he'll set me up with a loaner car for the duration of the repair, but did not give an estimated time of completion.

I'll update again when I get some more info.

I didn't find anything concrete on that code either, only references to transmission issues on other brands. If it is P0171 by chance it could be indicating a lean condition, O2 sensor problem, vacuum leak, or maf issue perhaps.

Let us know how it goes. The good news is you got codes. They can't fail to duplicate customer issue when there are codes!
