2003 Chevrolet Malibu-Key will not go to OFF position

OK..First I apologize, I know this has been talked about.. I looked in all the threads and posts I could find but none had a solution. There were hints at a recall etc. others said just jiggle the key, ignition, or shifter. This is my wife's car and I am out of town a lot. I have given her the above solutions and she gets frustrated at fighting the car and gives up. Then I am getting a call that her car battery is dead again.

My question is, has there been a service bulletin regarding this, or has there been a recall I am not aware of.

BTW, our ignition was part of that massive recall, and I thought that would take care of this, but the recall only put a chip in the key and/or fob. When I went to pick up the car tonight, guess what? Yep, battery dead. Frustrated to no ends.

Sorry for the long post, but there has to be a solution to this.

As for your question, I didn't provide a link. If you're referring to the "Search" button at the top of the page, is it provided by the owners of this site and the developers of this tool. I clicked it and it just showed me a search tool. I was not whisked away to WalMart or any other place. What did you click on, and if you click on it again, does it take you somewhere else?

A suggestion about your issue: Consider replacing the ignition cylinder and the switch (2 different parts) at the same time. Your particular model is notorious for them failing and causing all sorts of issues. If the keys you have are in good shape you can have a locksmith rekey the tumbler to match the existing keys. That way you won't need 2 different keys for the car, but that might be a good thing if you sit down and think it out.
