Well, I am having problems with my door locks now, too. I had to have one of the key fobs replaced a couple of months ago, and this was covered under the GMPP.
Today, all the locks started unlocking willy nilly. It was very upsetting. I'd lock the car with the key fob, and then a couple minutes later, the car would unlock itself. The first couple of times this happened, I thought that maybe I was accidentally pressing on the key fob when it was in my pocket--but then I noticed that when I had the fob out of my pocket and nowhere near my fingers, the same thing would happen.
When I was driving this afternoon, the car would unlock itself at random intervals. The driver-side lock actuator in the door is not working at all. The one on the passenger side still is, though. After locking the doors with the fob or the passenger-side door actuator, the doors stayed locked for a few minutes but then eventually would unlock. I finally got so sick of this that I stopped trying to lock it. Lo and behold, I continued to hear the clicking of the locks at random intervals, as if the car was still trying to unlock itself.
I consider this to be a major safety issue. Sure, the doors stay have closed when they unlocked so far, but what if a door suddenly swings open? It's extremely unnerving to think that the doors could come open while I am driving on I-95. I take the highway everday to get to work.
The car has 41K on it now. I have the CPO warranty to 48K and then the GMPP. Considering the nature of this problem, I don't feel that I should have to page the $100 deductible for the GMPP. It is reasonable to expect that Chevy could design a car whose doors remain locked while the car is in motion. Would it be best to contact my dealer first, to discuss the issue with them, or should I call customer service before calling the dealer?
Advice appreciated!
