I own a 2011 Chevy Malibu LT FlexFuel. Yesterday when I was driving everything started out great. But after I drove for about 15 miles my car revved really high and moved very slow when I would accelerate at a green light. It got to the point where I had to pull over into a small street because the car didn't want to accelerate. I didn't know what was going on until I tried to put the car in reverse to try to get back to the main road. When I put my car in reverse and I stepped on thee gas the car would just start revving and the RPM needle will jump really high but the car wouldn't move. Then I set the car on drive and stepped on the gas and the car started to move. I tried the reverse again but no luck. So I called a tow truck. What might be the problem? I'm thinking its the transmission but I hope not since that would cost a lot to repair and my warranty expired 10,000 miles ago.

Hummina: My GMPP was only for 4-yrs or 60,000 miles, I'm calling the GMPP tomorrow to see if they can do anything though.

IF (Big IF!) it's the 3-5-R waveplate it needs to be done before it fails completely or you'll be on the hook for a new transmission or complete overhaul. If it has already failed, $20-30 won't do anything for you.

I called my dealer and had them run my VIN and told them my mileage and I still have an active warranty. I'm having it towed in tomorrow morning. Thanks for your help.

So if the dealer gives me a loaner car, which they said they will if I want, do I need to call my insurance and add that car to my policy or do I just jump in it and drive away?

If you're a real worrier, aka paranoid, call your insurance and let them tell you you're covered. When you get to the rental counter (if it's not from the dealer's lot) you can choose the extra-cost damage insurance, but beware that it may come with a deductible and may be secondary, meaning your own insurance will be primary. If the primary covers any claims the secondary is not sought for payment, so it would be money spent with no real benefit.
